Brian Heywood is an Australian musician who relocated to the UK at the beginning of the 1980’s and is now based in Melbourne. He plays live in the Country / Roots / Fusion genre and Rock / Pop styles. As well as live performance, he also composes music for live and video/film soundtracks, produces and engineers for recordings in a variety of styles.
Drawing on the experience of over 35 years of making music he also writes about live music and has reviewed live and recorded music performances and books about music, performance and techniques.
He also runs a small record label called POKE Records and produces and engineers both live and studio based music.
He has a Master’s degree from the Music Department of the City University in Music & Information Technology and is also involved in a number of organisations that promote and support musicians and live music such as the British Musicians’ Unions and the Australian Media Alliance (MEAA). He has also been elected to the Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain.
